FormerĀ Twisted SisterĀ singer Dee SniderĀ recently sat down with AXS TV to go over his five favorite albums of all time. You know, the records he’d bring with him were he stranded on a desert island or lost out in space somewhere, as the veteran entertainer and solo musician put it.

And as fans mightĀ expect, it’s made up of the ’70s hard rock that inspired Twisted Sister’s ’80s glam metal. It includes albums fromĀ Queen — “I remember seeing Queen open forĀ Mott the Hoople,” Snider says  — andĀ Led Zeppelin — “I actually used to do an amazingĀ Robert PlantĀ impersonation,” the singerĀ recalls. “[It]Ā got me into Twisted Sister. Because we were a bar band, and if you could sing Led Zeppelin, you were money.”

Snider isĀ also an authorĀ and one of several notableĀ rock stars who go by their middle name. He frequently speaks to the concept of “cancel culture” and otherĀ hot topics.Ā Coincidentally, Twisted Sister’s 1984 hit single “We’re Not Gonna Take It” is now aĀ political anthemĀ for candidates onĀ both sidesĀ of the aisle.

Snider’s latest solo album,Ā Leave a Scar, emergedĀ last year. And while the rock icon told AXS TV that he wouldn’t necessarily choose it as one of hisĀ ownĀ favorites, he said it could be one of yours.

What else made the list? Check outĀ Dee’s commentary below.

“What Are Dee Snider’s Five Favorite Albums?” (On AXS TV’sĀ Stranded)

Queen, ‘Queen II’ (1974)

The “least popular record” of Queen’s discography, Snider opines. “The only record they play nothing from live. Yet it is one of my favorite albums, obviously, of all time.”

Led Zeppelin, ‘Led Zeppelin II’ (1969)

Led Zeppelin IIĀ “just sealed the deal for me,” Snider says. “With what kinda music I wanted to make — the heaviness of the music I wanted to make.”

Sex Pistols, ‘Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols’ (1977)

“A must bring-along,” Snider states. “I may have been influenced a little bit with part of one of a Sex Pistols song on ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It.’ There is a section that is very reminiscent.”

Thin Lizzy, ‘Live and Dangerous’ (1978)

“A double live album,” Snider explains. “Of course, it includes ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’ and ‘Jailbreak’ and all of those songs. But it is such a moment. It’s so well done, so well performed.”

Slade, ‘Sladest’ (1973)

“They’re the band that wrote ‘Cum On Feel the Noize,'” Snider says. “Without Slade, there would be no Twisted Sister.”
